"The Ruminant Band" by Fruit Bats

Another song from The Ruminant Band by Fruit Bats. This time: the title track. Just as with Tegucigalpa, this isn't my favorite song on the album, but its up there.

Also, once again, I posted a video of a live performance on KEXP.

And, finally, once again, forgive the dialogue at the beginning of the YouTube song sample, it is not on the album version and the reason for adding it to this one still escapes me.

"Tegucigalpa" by Fruit Bats

Well, I think Andrew Bird's Noble Beast's eight month stint on the top of my Best Album of 2009 list has finally come to an end.  Enter Fruit Bats' The Ruminant Band.  Really great album, from beginning to end.  Thank you Stu for re-piqueing (Actual word?) my interest in the album, so that I might give it a second listen.

That being said, I will spend most of this week (My first week back!  HUZZAH!) posting songs from this wonderful album.

First up, Tegicigalpa.  Not quite my favorite song on the album, but close to the top.  Really interesting melody, and a rocking solo at the end.  Enjoy it.  (The album version doesn't have the weird talking at the beginning, like this YouTube video, and I have no idea why anyone would at it.  Oh well, the song is still good).

I posted a live version of the song, performed on KEXP, as well.  The band sounds really good live and I hope I get a chance to see them sometime this year.

"Apollo And The Buffalo And Anna Anna Anna Oh!" by Sunset Rubdown

I was really excited about the new Sunset Rubdown album, but was a little disappointed by Dragonslayer.  It's not bad, it's just not that good.  However, there are a few really good songs, and this is one of them.  Hope you enjoy it.  Because if you don't....

Back in action...

I got busy this summer with work and study abroad and so I stopped updating.  Hopefully I can keep it up this time.  You know the drill:  a song a day.  Hope you enjoy it.

Here is a link to the previous attempt at a song a day.  Check it out too.
